Privacy Policy — Heemu

Heemu ("we", "our", or "us") is a digital wellness application developed by SAP-SHARKS. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Android application.

1. Account and Sign In

Heemu requires you to sign in with a Quran.com account to use the app. When you sign in, Quran.com shares your basic account identifiers with us so we can create your Heemu profile. Your Quran.com password is never seen or stored by Heemu.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

• Account identifiers received from Quran.com when you sign in (such as your user ID and email address)
• Gender preference, used for theme customisation
• App preferences such as intervention mode and pause duration
• The list of apps you choose to limit
• Goals you create in the app

Information collected automatically:

• Which of your selected apps you open, and when an intervention screen was shown to you
• Dhikr counts and streaks
• Screen time statistics for the apps you have selected
• Basic device information and crash reports

3. Permissions We Use

Accessibility Service: Heemu uses Android's Accessibility Service to detect when you open an app you have chosen to limit. We use this only to know which app is currently in the foreground so we can display the intervention screen. We do not read screen content, capture keystrokes, collect text you type, or monitor any activity beyond identifying the app in the foreground.

Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): Used to show you statistics about your screen time.

Query all packages: Used to show you the list of apps installed on your device so you can choose which ones to limit. This list is used on your device to build that screen and is not uploaded to our servers.

Display over other apps: Used to show the intervention screen on top of the app you opened.

4. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the core app limiting and intervention functionality
• To personalise your experience
• To show you your statistics, streaks and progress, and to keep them available when you reinstall the app or sign in on another device
• To improve the app and fix bugs

5. Where Your Data Is Stored

Your preferences, the list of apps you limit, and cached Quran content are stored on your device.

The following are stored on our servers, hosted by Supabase, and linked to your account:

• Your profile record
• Goals you create
• Dhikr logs
• Intervention events, which record that an intervention was shown and for which app

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell or trade your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase — hosts our database and authentication
• Quran.com — provides sign in and supplies Quran verses and translations
• Google Play Services — app distribution and updates

7. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You can request deletion of your account and all associated server data at any time. Instructions are on our account deletion page.

Uninstalling the app removes the data stored on your device, but does not delete data stored on our servers. To remove that, follow the account deletion instructions.

8. Age Requirement

Heemu is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Your Rights

• You can request a copy of your data, or its deletion, by contacting us
• You can revoke Accessibility and Usage Access permissions at any time in your phone's settings
• You can uninstall the app at any time

10. Security

Data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS. We take reasonable measures to protect your information, though no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
